The Transformers Robotics FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL®) experience inspires children to participate in science and technology within a safe, Christian environment. Working as a team, the kids build and program an autonomous robot, explain its technical design and present solutions from a research project related to real world problems, while displaying Gracious Professionalism® and Coopertition ® in everything they do. FLL is for kids 9 to 14 years old.
We started the team in 2005 and have progressed to the state tournament each year. In 2008 we represented Georgia in the FIRST World Festival competing with 81 teams from around the globe. In 2009 we also were invited to a national level tournament with most of the other 50 states.
Each season the robot challenge and research project are based on a theme. Past subjects have included Food Factor, where we solved problems in our food supply chain and Senior Solutions, where we solved problems that our senior citizens face each day. One of the hardest seasons, NanoQuest, dealt with the very small subject of nanotechnology!
The Transformers Robotics team has a website during the season which can be found here. There you can learn more, watch videos and keep track of the team’s progress throughout the FLL season, which runs from September to January.
The partnership between FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) and The LEGO Group has created a powerful program that helps young people discover the fun in science and technology while building self-confidence, knowledge, and valuable employment and life skills.
